Somark Group and Transnetyx Press Release 15th October 2017

Somark Group and Transnetyx announce collaboration.

Somark Group and Transnetyx are pleased to announce an immediate collaboration and a strategic development agreement aimed at serving the research community and improving reproducibility and efficiency.

With immediate effect and utilising Somark’s new Digitail Tag technology, a customer may now load a code relevant to the genotype directly onto the Tag from the electronic genotype record transmitted by Transnetyx. This will allow a record of the genotype to be carried by each and every mouse using the Digitail Tag and Somark’s SensaLab™ platform.

This is the first stage of a wider collaborative research agreement, which will see Somark provide an automated biopsy system and work with Transnetyx to automate the collection and shipment to its best-in-class genotyping facility for processing. Results will still be turned around within 24 or 72 hours using Transnetyx, depending on the chosen service level. This will create a unique chain of custody for animal identification and genotyping that will eradicate human error and create a new standard of accuracy and efficiency across the industry.

Bob Bean, Transnetyx CEO, commented, “Transnetyx has been at the forefront of providing efficient, accurate and timely genotyping. The collaboration with Somark and its new innovative SensaLab™ technology means we can provide additional value immediately. By seeking to create an even more efficient and accurate identification and biopsy method our collaboration can help further reduce the number of steps required to maintain accurate records. As we work together with animal facitlities worldwide, we can jointly focus on eliminating human error from the total process and take genotyping into a whole new paradigm. We are excited to begin the development work with Somark and its innovative team.”

“Transnetyx is in our view, the gold standard as a genotyping service. Bob and his team have delivered a world class service with real benefits to science”, said Adrian Knight, Somark’s Managing Director. “Our new SensaLab ecosystem provides a platform to drive more value from services and investments customers have already made. Transnetyx was an obvious and natural partner and builds on our collaboration with Charles River for Pre-ID™ Services. Together, we will enhance the chain of custody and set new standards for animal welfare. Science has seen more opportunity and bigger results from collaboration globally. It is equally important that service providers work together to provide more efficient tools and platforms to support science and deliver global health outcomes”.

Somark provides technology that improves science globally, dedicated to reducing costs, improving animal welfare and delivering accurate auditable real-time data which improves the quality of your research. The Somark technology suite is designed to facilitate pre-clinical animal research, transitioning the sector into the digital age. This paradigm shift delivers new levels of accuracy and security to the chain of custody for pre-clinical research. It allows less handling of the animals, improved productivity and delivers significant 3R benefits. The accurate auditable data produced is compliant with the new FDA SEND protocol. Our powerful analytics engine, including machine learning will help you produce greater insight and more scientific outcomes.

About Transnetyx

Transnetyx helps scientists accelerate research with fast, easy, and accurate real-time PCR genotyping. Transnetyx created the world’s first fully-automated genotyping system for detecting transgenic, knock-out, knock-in, SNP, and CRISPR mutations in mouse lines and has later added lines for zebrafish, rabbits, goats, and rats. Transnetyx has genotyped more than 16 million samples in 24 or 72 hours with 99.97% accuracy. With an inventory of more than 20,000 assays and more than 10,000 MGI and JAX lines Transnetyx is the trusted automated genotyping resource for thousands of researchers in universities, hospitals, and bioscience companies around the world.
